Giving credit where credit is due

Dear fans, friends and followers,

I’ve received a good number of Facebook comments, direct messages and @reply’s on Twitter about the clerical error on the iTunes song-listing of “Hallelujah”. The absence of my name caught us all off guard, but I assure you that this was a simple mistake and it will be fixed soon.

What is much more important than the absence or presence of my name is the fact that our recording is being downloaded at lightning pace, shooting right up to the Top 10 of iTunes in just its first day. This is HUGE!

The credit for this Top 10 charting does not belong to me, to Charlie, or even to Justin. We opened our hearts and shared our music, but still the credit for this song’s ascension is not ours to claim. The credit rightfully goes to each of you who gave money to Hope For Haiti Now out of the goodness of your hearts, either by downloading “Hallelujah” or by calling in during the telethon. This is HUGE because of you.

During the past few weeks I’ve learned a lot about my fans. I’ve learned that you are kind, thoughtful, compassionate people. I’ve learned that you listen to music with you ears AND your hearts. I’ve also learned that you respond quickly to a perceived injustice. This is, perhaps, what I admire most about you.

By continuing to download this song, and by taking part in your community fundraising events, you stand as examples of how we can come together to make a positive change in world.

You are the instruments of change. Your generosity and love for one another are the tools with which we will rebuild all that is broken in this world, starting first with the heart and then moving outward.

With love and appreciation,

Matt, aka the Other Dude (a nickname I will cherish forever!)
