A MESSAGE ABOUT EQUALITY
For the past several weeks, there has been a promotional video running hourly in Best Buy’s across the country showcasing my album, When Everything Breaks Open. The exposure has been tremendous. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a number of Best Buy employees, and they’ve all been extremely kind and supportive of my music.
I first posted this video on Saturday night, the 31st of July. And the very next day, I learned from one of my Twitter followers that The Human Rights Campaign, or HRC, issued on Sunday, August 1st a full-page ad in the Sunday Star-Tribune - a Minnesota Newspaper - calling on Best Buy, and Target, to stop making contributions to the political action committee, MN Forward, a group who supports candidates who oppose equality for LGBT people.
I took the video down. And I did that so that I could amend it with this message.
If you haven’t bought a copy of my CD, go into Best Buy and pick one up. While you’re there, drop of a copy of HRC’s open letter, and in a kind and respectful way do your part in encouraging your community’s businesses to support the equality of all citizens.
Thanks.
